My writing life began with a desire to contribute to high-paying print publications. Although I did not receive the high pay, I was published in local and global publications and met amazing people on the journey. My interview with Dr. Maya Angelou and being published on Forbes.com are my two freelance successes.
In the early stages of my writing life, I started a community newsletter that I published for eight years before converting it into a blog. I caught the blogging bug and started several sites, including Marcie Writes and Real Skate Stories.
Becoming an author was not on my list of things to do, but I have published nine books. The first eight books covered blogging, freelance writing and professional bios. My most recent masterpiece, Chicago Roller Skating History: 1880-2025, is the first and only book written on this topic.
I am on the Board of Directors of Chicago Writers Association.
