We are in the last days of 2024 and I want to encourage you to do two things: write down your 2024 accomplishments and 2025 goals.
Write Down Your Accomplishments
First, write down things you’ve accomplished this year, no matter how small they were. People tend to disregard small wins, but they do matter.
Writing down your accomplishments allows you to see what you have done this year. It’s one thing to know what you’ve done, but by seeing it on paper, you will experience positive feelings from doing. Also, you will feel empowered and start planning or working toward the next thing. Following are examples of wins to add to your list.
Generic Examples of Accomplishments
- A new experience, income stream or class.
- Something you did to improve your physical, mental, emotional, intellectual, spiritual or financial state.
- An obstacle you faced or overcame.
- You started something you’ve been putting off and you’re still working on it.
- You took action on something you’ve been wanting to do.
- You completed something you started that you’ve had on hold.
- You made a firm decision about something you have been pondering.
Write down one to three goals for 2025.
What is something you would like to accomplish for 2025? To keep things simple, write down one thing.
My accomplishments and goals
I dedicated 2024 to working on my book. I could not work on any other creative project, except my photography, unless I was making progress on my book. For about three or four months, I felt overwhelmed because of the amount of information I had and did nothing – no drafting, no revising, no editing – nothing. I carried my book with me every day, just in case inspiration hit, but none ever came.
There was a point I felt unhappy because I was not creating. Creativity is who I am, and I had lost a piece of me because I wasn’t doing it. Remember, I couldn’t create unless I worked on my book. My level of unhappiness and losing me made me take action. I didn’t like the way I felt about my lack of action and activity.
I am happy to share that I completed my next to final draft at the end of November and will have a full draft completed before December 31, 2024.
As for my 2025 goals, my book will be sent to the editor’s desk in January. While it is being edited, I will be promoting it; finding beta readers; and compiling my references.
So, drafting my book is/was my 2024 accomplishment and publishing and selling it are my goals for 2025.
What About You?
What did you accomplish in 2024? What are your goals for 2025? Feel free to share them in the comment box below.
Even if you don’t share with us here, be sure to write them down for yourself so you can see and celebrate this year’s wins and start planning for your future success.
