So, this thought came to me today and I would like to know if you would be interested in joining my book club.
Why am I doing this? To help boost the literacy rates of adults. It is reported that many adults don’t read any books in a single year and I would like to break that awful trend, if possible. My ultimate goal is to help people read at least 10 books per year. That’s it.
The requirements are very simple….for now.
- Read one book per month. It will be a book of your choice. You will be held accountable for reading that book. It can be as simple as reading a book of poetry to a thick read like The Laws of Success by Napoleon Hill.
- Report back about the book by uploading your story on my site or submitting it via audio or video. And if you want to have a monthly video meeting, we can do that, too.
- You MUST support each other through social media channels i.e. leave comments on blogs; post on FB page, LinkedIn and Twitter accounts; Pin images on Pinterest or leave comments on YouTube channels. We can follow each other on Goodreads and other social sites you are active on. If you don’t hang out on Pinterest, you will not be required to get an account. However, if you are, let’s follow each other.
- If you want to write a book, we will be your support.
- This just came to me: if there is a topic you want to teach to the group, you can share via teleconference and webinar.
This is my vision. A simple, yet effective way to get you started reading again. There are no fees to participate at this time; however, when it grows, there will be a nominal fee. And it will serve as a literary support – reading and writing.
Should my book club become a reality, how can it best serve you? What do you need?

I’m in! I love this idea. Sort of a combination reading/writing/blogging club. I could really use a support group especially for the writing and blogging parts.
I read a lot of fantasy fiction (and also have a website about it at feministfantasy.com :), but I have a huge reading list of non-fiction that I could use some accountability for! One book a month is very doable.
May I suggest a little sign-up form for this page so you can keep a master-list of people who are interested, along with their websites/twitter handles/etc.? Thanks muchly for doing this, I know a lot of work goes into organizing something like this so if it does take off I’d be happy to pay a fee for it.
Keri, I was just putting this out to see if anyone was interested. Now that I know I have one member, I will put forth the effort. And I will put your tips into action. You are a blessing. Look for more details soon.
Awesome, looking forward to it!
