WordCamp Chicago - June 13

It’s that time again. Wordcamp Chicago 2014 will be here from June 13 to June 15th at the at the University Center in downtown Chicago.

This is your chance to learn how maximize the power of your WordPress blog from development to design to content creation.

Okay, while I fully support almost anything WordPress because I really appreciate it, I do take issue with the fact that out of the 50+ speakers listed on the site, none of them are black and very few are female. I know that tech is a traditionally male field, and I am aware that the organizers probably have personal relationships with many of the speakers, but I think more diversity is needed.

I know I signed up to be a presenter and haven’t heard anything. Also, I don’t know how many other black people or women signed up to be speakers and I don’t know if they are done selecting speakers for the event. All I know is what I see on the site and it’s screaming for diversity.
