I am on a mission to grow my all of my writing and blogging ventures. And while I know there is massive competition out there, I try not to hark over things which I have no control. I know there are better writers than me; I know there are better bloggers than me; and I know that I have a lot to learn in business.
Instead of getting down, I often ask myself:
What Would Google Do?
Why Google? In my post a few weeks back about the most visited websites in the United States, Google was #1 on the list. They areĀ fulfilling their mission to rule the internet.
So, what is about Google that makes me look to them for inspiration?
1. They fulfilled their mission of being #1, which took work, but they have to work even harder to stay there. They cannot afford to rest on their laurels. I remember reading that Facebook actually had more hits than Google in one day a few years ago and I’m certain that scared the begeezus out of them. You see they started their own social network to compete.
2. When you look at Google’s mission, it’s very simple: We do search. Even though they have gotten into other industries with Android and Google TV, everything goes back to search.
3. They started small and look where they are now. Persistence pays off – literally and figuratively.
4. It all started with a vision. I read somewhere that even when the Google guys started the site, they didn’t know where they were going. All the founders knew was that they wanted an online venture. In fact, the company’s name wasn’t even Google.
5. You know you’re hot stuff when your company starts as a noun and ends up a command. “Go Google it!”
Those are just a few of the reasons why I ask myself, “What would Google do?” They are a source of inspiration personally and professionally.
What About You?
When you get down about your ventures, what inspires you?

Google persevered and they have succeeded.
Remember, they have been on the Internet ever since the Internet existed.
Back then, they were not the biggest and Yahoo was way ahead of them.
They kept it up and used many successful strategies that have worked.
Thanks for the post Marcie.
