What do the following scenarios have in common?
- You were not selected for the job you wanted, even after surviving three grueling interviews over a three month period.
- You greeted someone and were ignored.
- You finally mustered the courage to ask the woman you’ve been eyeballing for months out for lunch and she said no.
They are all forms of rejection.
Although we’ve been getting rejected all our lives, it still hurts. We’ll never get used to it; and sometimes it takes a while to get over it.
Great news! There is something we can do to lessen the pain: Rejection Therapy. The purpose of rejection therapy is to do one thing every day to intentionally get rejected. Sounds crazy, right? Who would intentionally do something to get rejected? Jia Jiang.
Instead of harking on rejection, he did something to intentionally get rejected every day for 100 days and blogged about his experience. Let’s learn more about this practice and why we should consider doing it in order to reduce the sting of rejection.
Rejection Therapy
What is Rejection Therapy?
Created by Jason Comely, Rejection Therapy is the practice of doing at least one thing to get rejected every day.
Who Needs Therapy?
Anyone who is allowing fear of rejection to hold you back from your achieving your goals. I would surmise that this is 99% of the world’s population.
Why Do You Need Rejection Therapy?
To better handle rejection; to prevent you from wallowing in the pain of rejection; and to give you the courage to progress “in spite of” of rejection.
Think about this: how much happier would you be in life if you had the audacity to do what you want to do; have what you want; or be the person you really want to be?
When Should You Start Therapy?

How Do You Get Started?
There are three products available to make rejection a little less painful: Rejection Proof book, Rejection Therapy Card Game and the Rejection Therapy app.
My Thoughts on Rejection Therapy
I think it’s a great idea. I’ve tried it and have gotten mixed results. However, here’s the bright side of this process, if done consistently: the more you get rejected, the less it stings. Also, your confidence will increase and you’ll achieve more.

I think this is a great post. I think that it’s important to get used to being in uncharted territory in order to achieve success. I have tried rejection therapy in the past and I can attest to the fact that it works. It does sting less when rejected and you get to the point that it doesn’t even affect you.
Thanks for commenting, Maria. What was one of the biggest challenges you undertook to get rejected and how did it turn out?
