I have no cash flow right now. My unemployment ended in April and I have yet to apply for public assistance. There’s no shame in my game. I paid into the system, now it’s time to withdraw. And a full-time job in Corporate America is NOT an option.
Anyway, some people might think this is a bad thing. In fact, I have been asked by several people, “How are you taking care of yourself?” What do they care? They’re not offering help. As I stated in my first post, my writing life is one of faith. I can sit back and wallow in the “no cash flow blues”, or I can pull from my pool of gifts and talents. The best option for me right now, though, is to position The Write Design Company to be the writing and blogging service of choice for my target markets. But first, I have to determine those markets.
I met with a Lester McCarroll of the Tech Advantage program at IIT today and left feeling like I was walking on air. The advice and suggestions were outstanding. He’s helping me to narrowly define the target markets for my services. He also helped me to figure out a revenue stream that I had not considered. It was so cool the way he presented it. Lester also gave me tips on how to position Shorty, and which class to teach to youngsters over the summer.
So, having no cash flow is not the worse thing that can happen to me right. The most devastating thing that can happen to me right now is NOT to put the advice Lester gave me into action. I would be a broke-ass loser of the worst kind. That is not cute on any level.
Faith is indeed important. Keep it, but also make sure that you balance it with a dose of reality as well. Times are tough! Wishing you well in your journey, whatever road you take.:-)
Thanks Jennifer. I have applied to part-time, writing and blogging positions. I haven’t heard anything, back yet. It’s just time for me to work my business ventures. I’ll let you know what happens. Oh, I was offered a full-time writing position based on the work I submitted for How They Living. I’ll know more this weekend.
Great! I never heard of them, but this sounds good. Are they a mag or online?
How They Living is a new magazine that will be print with a heavy online presence. They want me to help with the online piece. It’s exciting. I’ll let you know what happens.
