THANKS
Over the past few weeks I have been advised to
- Start a podcast
- Write a children’s book
- Conduct more video interviews
While this is flattering, the people making the suggestions offered no support in the form of writing, resources or finances. NONE!
Actually, all of these things are on my “want to do list” but they will not be done anytime soon because of time, money and interest.
NO THANKS
Time
All of these things take time…and lots of it.
Producing a single podcast will take at least two hours which includes production and editing.
A children’s book requires research, focus and imagination. Unless the spirit of creativity attacks or should I start drinking, that book will not be produced.
And video anything takes up soooo much time. You also have to manage every aspect of the process – scheduling and conducting interviews; ensuring you have proper lighting and sound; and you have to edit the video. This would require wardrobe changes. Uh, I’ll stick with audio for now.
Money
I’m not starting anything else right now unless it generates a passive income. What does that mean? I’ll make money while I sleep.
I told the person who suggested video interviews that I would need money to pay for recording and editing. She said, “You can get interns.” Yes, I could but I don’t believe in people working for me for free. Besides, they gotta eat, too.
Interest
I have more pressing projects to focus on. Right now I just want my 62 Blog Posts to Overcome Blogger’s Block book and workbook done. Actually, I’m trying to produce an entire blogger’s block system to help people generate blog post ideas; boost their creativity; and build their blogging confidence.
So, to the people who are confident in my ability to product, write and interview: thank you. But unless you can provide financial support and resources for these projects, they will remain on my “want to do list” until I am confident that they can be done successfully and profitably.
