Remember my piece in the My Now for the Entrepreneur collaborative book project, Step Out on Faith & Keep on Stepping, I mentioned in a previous post?
When I wrote that piece I was in the midst of a faith walk. I didn’t have a lot of money but I had HUGE dreams. And was determined to make them come true.
Here are a few of the steps I took (and am still taking) that I shared in the book.
Step Out on Faith
- You have to pray for guidance and direction. Specifically, you want to know what you should be doing; who you should be connected with; and where to find the resources you need.
- You have to have the courage to take the first step toward your dreams. Then, you need it to keep going forward, despite the challenges and the discouragement.
- Plan of action. After you decide what you want, you have to write out a plan of action and follow it. It doesn’t have to be overly detailed to the point of overwhelm, but it should include at least three tasks you need to perform to get started.
- Patience is crucial. Nothing is going to happen in the time frame you plan. And Murphy’s Law, whatever that could go wrong will go wrong, is real.
Keep on Stepping
- You have to work your plan in order for your plan to work. You are going to make mistakes and wrong decisions. Learn from them and keep moving. That’s all part in of the growth process.
- It’s easy to get distracted by family, social media, home stuff and any other thing that takes attention away from your project. If you find yourself losing sight of your goals, bring yourself back to what’s important: focusing on the attainment of your goals.
- Keep pressing forward. Do not stop. Most importantly, do not give up.
