Are you considering entering the speaking arena? If so, it is important that you distinguish yourself from your competitors, especially if you speak on the same topic. This is best done through branding. Following are five must-have branding tools speakers should use.
Branding Tools for Speakers
Website
Your website should let people know who you are; your topics; your audience(s); and how they can hire you. It should also have a store to sell products; an appointment calendar for bookings; and an event calendar to notify people of upcoming events.
Video clips, photos at engagements, testimonials and a listing of clients would lend to your credibility. Be sure to add your contact information to each page. Make it easy for people to contact and hire you.
Speaker One Sheet
A speaker one sheet is a condensed version of your website. It should include a brief bio and photo, as well as your topics; the audience (s) you serve; and your speaking format (keynote speeches, panel discussions, training). Add testimonials if space permits.
Blog
Use your blog to create or reinforce your topics. Write posts to boost your authority on your topic; to promote your events, products and services; or to write your next book. You can also share tips and resources.
Social Media
All speakers should have a presence on at least one video site. You can easily share links to video clips when people request them. Also, you may be “accidentally” found by people looking for other things. And don’t forget to promote your videos on your social networks and blog.
Newsletter
Newsletters are great for keeping in touch with people who want to hear from you. Send your most recent blog posts or details about upcoming events. You can even write original articles with productivity tips and tools, mistakes and lessons learned or words of inspiration.
