Last year, I interviewed Marki Lemons-Ryhal because I wanted to know how to be prepared and efficient as a speaker. Our interview is an example of repurposed content on steroids because that information has be used in four different ways.
First, our interview was published on YouTube.
I then pitched an article idea on being a prepared speaker to Toastmaster Magazine which was published in the February 2017 issue. Although Marki’s name was not mentioned in the article, it was mentioned in the query letter along with a link to our video.
Now, Marki is using the same information in a sell sheet for speaking engagements. She created a checklist to hand out to attendees at her conference sessions. Notice that she mentions Toastmasters at the top of the first page. When you click the link, it goes to my Toastmaster article.
Finally, it’s a blog post.
Essentially, my desire to learn how to be a better and prepared presenter has been published in four different formats for four different audiences for four different purposes. And we will both continue to profit from this information. I will generate more writing projects while she gets more speaking gigs.
And that’s how you should use content you’ve created. Recreate what you have in your arsenal in as many ways as possible. Also, it would be cool to partner with someone who will help promote content that you’ve created together.
