I am proud to share that my Introduction to Blogging for Business on Friday, March 16th was a great success. There were over 50 attendees, which was one of the largest turnouts for a Tech Thursday event (even though it was Friday).
Although the event registration was free with complimentary breakfast and lunch, I really feel people were genuinely interested in this topic. I loved the diversity of our group – age, race, gender, industry and interests. A few people touted their upcoming birthdays and ages. We had an 80-something in the group who wanted to prove that you can teach old dogs new tricks.
I love blogging and think that everyone should do it, but it’s a lot of work. And the goal of my workshop was to give business owners a realistic preview of the work that goes into blogging while helping them to start thinkig about creating content for their sites, which is the meat and potatoes of all websites.
The session was broken into two parts: a presentation and working in groups. I presented an overview of blogging; gave them 10 minutes to brainstorm blog topics ; and then put everyone in groups to learn more about each other and discuss their ideas. They enjoyed it!
Overall, it was a successful workshop. Many thanks to Blue Ocean Logic Group and Microsoft, my event partners. Also, a big shout out to Dante Hamilton for the photos. I’ll share more as I get them.
FYI – My next event, 3 Online Marketing Tools All Businesses Shouls Use, will be held at Microsoft on Monday, April 9, 2018. Watch for more details.
