I have two rooms for my business. Rm#1 is where my computer desk and my design desks sat together side by side. Each meant to be their own little station. Rm#2 is where I kept a portion of my supplies and my photography station.
Turns out my computer desk ate up way too much of my time! Bing..wait that was an email – let’s check it! While looking at inbox – Ouuhh…someone tagged me on fb – let’s check it! The stations spilled over on each other and all surfaces were a mess! “Well, of course I can twirl paper AND catch up on the latest TV flick!” NOT!
Solution: I moved things around. My general supplies are now in my “office” and my design desk and paper supplies are in my “studio.” Bingo! I’ve created more in the last 2 weeks than I have in the last 2 months. I also love that the photo station is in the same room as my design station. No more running back and forth to take pic. Create a piece, turn, take pix, then go to my office to load pix.
Now my catching up on the latest TV flick is a reward that I give myself during lunch time when I’ve accomplished my morning to-do-list.
Blog reading time? I’ve unfollowed a lot of blogs. Especially, if they hit my in-box every.single.day! I like the blogs that give me one email listing all their posts for the week then I decide if I want to read on. (Of course, you can tell Marcie Writes made the cut. lol)
Lisa, thanks for sharing your time management strategy and for keep me on your blogs-to-read list. Lol! I like how you altered your space to increase your productivity and reward yourself for staying on task. I’m about to change my work space to see if that helps with my productivity.
