My biggest blogging challenge is building solid backlinks. I refuse to buy them. There is just too much negativity surrounding that idea.
As far as the content it is learning how many links are appropriate within an article and how the search engines see them. I started off talking about some of my favorite blogs and adding the links to them but then I read somewhere that having links to unrelated blogs isn’t a good idea. So… I got rid of them. Just learning the rules and trying to write about what I learn. That is a challenge all on its own.
Hi there, I have three suggestions for you. First, check out Basic Blog Tips at http://www.basicblogtips.com and search SEO. There are several SEO experts who write articles on the site; there’s lots of information there. Second, guest post on other people’s sites. That helps with backlinks. Third, conduct interview with other bloggers and they will link back to your site. I’m not an SEO expert, but these things have worked for me.
For me, it’s about finding the time to create and also feeling inspired to write at that time. I find I have more to say when I’m out and about but once I’m in front of my laptop I lose 95% of my day’s ideas.
Hey Elliot, I would encourage you to have a notebook, a voice recorder or camcorder with you at all times so you can capture those thoughts as they occur. Of course, your smartphone has all these things. Should you use audio and video for your thoughts, that’s a way to diversify the content on your site.
