I had the pleasure of previewing the production of AJAYLA, The Nubian Princess tonight, and it was a nice family film that was written, produced and directed by Ametra Gibson-Self. The positive emphasis on little brown and black girls was unique. The participation of all of her family members in the movie really made it a family film. Some of the actresses were new to acting, but continuous practice will lead to success. Nothing pertaining to this independent film was published or heard in mainstream media. It is truly an honor for As NOT seen on TV to be one of the first sources to share information about this movie. Bravo to Ametra, her entire family, and everyone who came out to Chatham Theater in Chicago to support this film.

Words cannot express the joy I have in my heart. Not just for my benefit, but to see how happy the kids were last night. When taking the photo above, I thought about how we were in that parking lot passing out flyers and within one week of the preview promoting the 10:00 showing. The theater room for the morning show was completely filled with Day Care Centers, Camps and families coming out. I am just so excited about what is happening. My goal was to send a message to ALL girls from our culture that they are “Princess” material, too. Thanks for the coverage.

Ametra, it was great sharing in your experience from the initial notification all the way to writing this post. It is great to know other people working to bring their dreams to fruition. And to share the message with all little ladies that they are princesses is just wonderful. I do have to ask: Is there a movie about a Nubian Prince in the making?
Funny you would ask that as I thought all weekend long about 2 storylines, yes, one about a Nubian Prince, too. To see the joy on the little boys face, who played little Savion and how energetic and exciting he is to have been portraited as a Prince AND President – his interview was awesome. I hope to get more young
teen males involved because this will be a great and long time awaiting opportunity. I’m starting early to search for The Next Nubian Prince.
That would be a beautiful thing especially with the lack of Prince images in the media. Let me know when you begin; I’ll help you in any way I can.
