Quick Wisdom: My Changing Views of Success

Posted on January 15, 2014January 14, 2014 by Ms. Marcie

When I first started on my writing and entrepreneurial journey, my definition of success was millions of dollars in the bank. While that’s nice to have, my views of success have changed over the years.

Old definition of success

Million-Dollars

New definition of success

Completed to do list - writechangegrow

Yes, completing my to-do list DAILY is the ultimate sign of success. That’s a HUGE difference from my initial view.

Think about it. If you have five things you need to do to complete one project, wouldn’t it be great to have those five things completed so you can SEE the final result of that one project? Or, you may be working on three projects and completing at least one thing per day would help you achieve that goal.

How do you define success?

Have your views of success changed over the years?

I’m looking at success with only one slight variation as I’m focused on completing tasks in 2014 by going from small to big when tackling projects. Authentically speaking, my success is based upon how many folks I can impact by offering the motivational encouragement and tools they can incorporate in their own lives to make their life better.

When people hear my message and act on it? I am successful.

I understand what you’re saying about people acting on your message, but I challenge one thing: you cannot control people’s actions. What are you going to ensure that they act?
