As I conducted research for my blogging presentation for New Media Expo, I visited Alexa.com. This site tracks the most visited websites across the globe as of December 2013. Following are the most popular websites in the United States. This is a HUGE list so I only went up to 200.
I wanted to share these rankings for five reasons.
- To give you an idea of the sites people are visiting. Some of them are familiar to you; some are not.
- To show how search and social media have taken over the internet.
- To highlight that most of these sites are internet based only, which means that there is still opportunity for innovators.
- To provide viable stock options just in case you are an investor. (Uh, I looked up the stock prices for Google, Facebook, YouTube, Yahoo and Apple. You might want to start at the bottom of the list. No, not this list. I mean the absolute bottom of the list where there are no stock prices just yet.
- Hey, I love sharing resources. If you have no idea about any of this, that’s okay. You may need it one day.
