I’m currently working as a contractor at a media company where I have to read and watch the news daily and I’m totally annoyed by many of the reports. I understand that sensationalism and blood sell, but….jeez. And the repetition and changes are even worse.
News Stories We Can Do Without
Jesse Jackson Jr.
I am so sick of hearing about this dude. Ok, he’s in trouble for allegedly misusing campaign funds. But to throw in the $40,000 Rolex watch for a “female friend” is ridiculous. And now that female friend has turned into a mistress according to some news reports even though it has not really been confirmed that a watch exists according to those news reports.
Stacy Peterson
God bless her soul, but we all know that if Stacy Peterson was a black woman, she would NOT still be in the news 5 years later. In fact, her missing person story probably would not have hit mainstream news outlets like so many other missing minorities.
Other Views on the News
Taking Back America
Certain groups have been saying that they are taking back America. Tell me, where did it go?
Shooting in Self Defense?
A police officer shot someone because “he feared for his life.” While I don’t have all the details about the situations (you’ll never get context from news sources), why can Chicago’s finest shoot people “just because” and common folk can’t carry weapons? Dude, I live in the hood. I am almost certain that there would be fewer shootings if there was a conceal and carry law ordinance in place.
Million Dollar Donations
Did Disney or any other billion dollar corporation donate $2 million to Hurricane Katrina victims before, during or after the disaster like they did to Hurricane Sandy victims? Let me know. I may have missed that report.
Sandy vs. Katrina
Is the public looking at Sandy victims the same way they looked at Katrina victims? Better yet, did news outlets report these incidents in the same manner? Yes, there is discrimination in reporting.

So, these are my views on the news. Get rid of these stories already. They are being covered ad nauseum. Which news stories can you do without?
