There are a lot of reasons to love blogging. It’s a great way to market yourself; to show off your skills; and to expose yourself to the world around you.
Anyone who has experience blogging knows this one fundamental truth: it takes a ton of time. And you want to be compensated for your time.
While the sole purpose of your blog should not be to make money, you should figure out ways to earn an income. Disclaimer: don’t expect to “get rich quick.” In fact, to earn your whole living with your blog, you’ll need to treat it like a full-fledged business, not just a side project.
For now, here are five ways to make money with your blog you may have not thought of before.
Make Money With Your Blog
Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing is a great way to make money with your blog, especially if you’re operating in a relatively specific niche or have built up a good level of trust with your audience.
Here’s how it works: You refer products that your audience may need or would want and then to direct them to buy through educational blog posts. If they make a purchase, you’ll receive a commission.
Doing this successfully will help you generate more business. As readers grow to trust your recommendations, they will look to you to guide them towards their next purchase.
There are loads of affiliate marketing programs out there, the largest ones being from Google and Amazon. You can also find companies looking for one-on-one partnerships, which may work better if your blog is in a very specific niche.
Coaching
If a lot of people turn to your blog as a resource; look to you for advice; or view you as an authority on a topic, you can offer individual or group coaching services.
Again, this requires a high level of trust with your audience. In addition to making extra cash, you can build meaningful and rewarding relationships with some of your readers.
Sell Your Blog
This is probably one you haven’t thought of yet. Believe it or not, the internet is rapidly becoming a real estate market. Certain blogs or domains have earned tremendous value and are bought and sold for unfathomable amounts of money.
Now, this strategy isn’t a sure thing. There are many factors that go into determining the value of a site. To see if it’s even worthwhile, though, take time to figure out what your blog or online business is worth. If you think the financial figure is worth it, run with it.
Selling eBooks or Other Products
Writing and selling eBooks and other products is another way to earn money. Assuming you already have a decent following for your blog, all you would need to do is highlight how your products will add value to their lives.
Accepting Donations
Very few people think of this last one, but it can actually be very effective if done right.
These days, it’s hard to find quality information. It’s even harder to find people you can trust. If you can get to a point where your audience truly values what you offer them, they aren’t going to want to let you go.
Asking for donations may be viewed as begging for money, which is endearing to no one. But if you put up a call for donations and explain what the money will be used for, you might be surprised at the response.
People are willing to invest in things they view as valuable. To boost donations, consider offering some sort of gift or reward for supporting the blog.
You’ve just read about five ways to make money with your blog that perhaps you haven’t thought of before. You don’t know how profitable these strategies are going to be until you give them a try.
