© June 2008 Marcie Hill
The multi-talented KeKe Palmer will grace the stage of the Petrillo Music Shell at 2:00 p.m. at the Taste of Chicago on Sunday July 6, 2008.
Hailing from the south suburbs of Chicago, 14-year-old KeKe shared that it feels good to be coming home to Chicago. She plans to captivate her audience with her dance skills and songs from her debut album, So Uncool. She is particularly excited about performing at The Taste as this will be her first time ever attending the event.
Although she is best known for her acting skills, KeKe is making a name for herself in the music industry. She can be seen and heard in two of her projects – Akeelah and the Bee and Disney’s Jump In. Her very first single, All My Girlz, can be found on the Akeelah and the Bee soundtrack. Akeelah is the movie that she starred in that earned her several nominations and awards for her outstanding acting abilities. She can also be heard singing It’s My Turn Now and Jumpin’ on Disney’s Jump In soundtrack, a TV movie in which she had a lead role. Prior to these hits, she could be heard on several singles on several Disney soundtracks as well as Tonight, the end title song of Night at the Museum movie.
KeKe not only sings and acts, she writes her own music too. Her lyrical talents can be experienced on her So Uncool album. She sings about topics that are relevant to teen girls from beauty and fashion to friendship and boys.
To get a feel for KeKe’s lyrical and vocal skills live and in person, be sure to visit the Petrillo Music Shell at the Taste of Chicago on Sunday, July 6 at 2:00 p.m.
