While covering the the Save-A-Lot story for Gapers Block, I followed their street team members as they passed out surprised grocery bags with up to $12 worth of food in the Avalon community. It was not the coldest day in Chicago, but it was close. I have to say that I really enjoyed combing the community, talking to the residents about their reactions to their bags of groceries. Even in the cold weather.
Honestly, if I had more time, I would find some young people that love video recording to hang with me and make on-the- spot the recordings. In nicer weather. Until that time comes, I will seek those opportunities to be a street team reporter in the summer. If you learn of any, please let me know.
