My friend and I went to Via Bella restaurant on 5212 LaGrange Road with a Groupon. We were attracted to the picture in the ad above so that’s where we went.
Let me tell you, that’s some good false advertising by Groupon.
When we got to the restaurant, we asked for the dish in the picture. The waitress went to fetch the manager because what we wanted was not on their menu.
Imagine our disappointment when the manager told us that the image on the site was a stock photo that Groupon uses.
He did tell us that he would try to make something close to it. Cool.
They didn’t have enough shrimp for both of us. Not cool.
Well, they did put something together but it didn’t look anything like the food in the picture. Honestly, I didn’t think about taking a picture, but believe me, it didn’t look like the picture.
You know what? I don’t even know what they served us but it was pretty tasty, though. So, thanks for the staff at Via Bella for good customer service.
Here are a few things I want you to keep in mind when buying a Groupon for a restaurant.
- Don’t believe the picture you see. It’s just there to get you into the restaurant.
- Don’t ask for the dish that’s advertised on Groupon. You may be disappointed.
- Check out restaurant reviews before you go. I did do that, which is another reason why I went.
- Enjoy your meal!
What About You?
Have you ever bought a Groupon for dining? How was your experience?
Marcie,
I would be so disappointed if that picture wasn’t made available for me to chow down on! I love me some shrimp & pasta dishes 🙂 Thanks for the review.
Clara, my heart dropped when the manager told us that they didn’t have that. It still breaks when look at this picture.
