While planning my blog posts for next year, I considered repurposing content on this site. This seemed like good idea until I realized that I didn’t even know what was on my site. I then decided to look for a WordPress plugin that would allow me to download all posts on Marcie Writes.
Just like “there’s an app for that”, there’s a WordPress plugin for nearly every function you can think of. And I found Export All URLs.
I wanted to download this information for several reasons:
- To see the volume of blog posts I’ve written over the past 10 years.
- To see how my work has improved over the years.
- To review all posts I’ve published over the years so I can do more internal linking. Internal linking means I’m liking to posts and pages published on my site. This helps with search engine optimization.
- To find common themes for future books, resource pages, trainings and other projects.
- To determine which posts I want to update with “branded” images and share on my social networks.
Export All URLs
This plugin is super easy to use. It allows you to download the blog post titles, URLs (web address) and blog post categories in a CSV file; select the information you want to download it; and save it as an Excel spreadsheet. The information can then be sorted by post title, URL or category.
After reviewing the download, I discovered that I could better organize my posts and categories, as well purge and delete irrelevant posts. Overall, this plugin is definitely worth the download and effort. Did I mention it was free?
