I know that’s not grammatically correct but those are my feelings toward the Epson projector I had to purchase for my Business Blogging 101 seminar this morning.
Back Story
I have a new laptop and old projector, which are incompatible. The projector has a VGA port; the laptop doesn’t and the laptop has HDMI; the projector doesn’t.
I went to Staples to get an HDMI cord but it didn’t connect the two, so I returned it. I reached out to some buddies at IIT for a projector and had the same issue.
So, what’s a girl to do? Buy or borrow?
I reached out to speakers, teachers, Toastmasters and business people. Two people had projectors. My fellow Toastmaster left it at work and the other person was using hers. Aarrghhh!!!
The only option remaining: buy.
Although some people suggested Rent-a-Center, my logical shopping mind would not allow me to get pimped by this store, even for a projector.
My Projector Shopping Experience
I rarely invest in electronics without first researching them. I have to check the specs, prices and reviews. And I definitely have to compare prices.
I found an Epson VS240 SVGA 3LCD Projector that ranged in price from $299.99 – $319.99. After deciding on this model, I thought I could purchase it within an hour. No such thing.
I called Staples and they didn’t have any projectors in their store. I called OffceMax; they didn’t have that model. I went to Walmart and Sam’s Club. No luck.
Now, I’m getting flustered because I have to get home by a certain time to prepare for my friend’s graduation. And my workshop was only hours away – literally and figuratively.
I went into OfficeMax and they did have a model but it wasn’t in the price range of VS240. As a matter of fact, it was $449.99! (Gasps). This was the cheapest model they had.
But wait….there’s more. They did NOT have that model in stock. (Faints)
Ok, I’m frustrated now. I asked the salesperson to call another store for me. That store had one!
I had to drive a distance to get that Epson projector; but I got it.
How do I feel right now? Good that I have the projector.
How do I feel about the projector? I’ll let you know after the presentation today.
All I have to say is: this Epson projector better be dope.
