I had the pleasure of reading and reviewing Up In Here: Jailing Kids on Chicago’s Other Side for Windy City Reviews.
Can I be honest? When I read the reviews of the authors on the back cover of the book, I almost declined (even though I said yes to reviewing it).
Could I write a statement as profound as “…it is his moral sense, his unsentimental view into their underlying humanity and the system that keeps them locked inside…”? Or, how about describing the author as being “….utterly unprepared for the Hobbesian world he encounters…” (What does Hobbesian mean and how do you pronounce that???)
Anyway, it was a page-turner and I highly recommend it. Be sure to read my review on Up in Here on Windy City Reviews.
