One sure way to overcome blogger’s block is to maintain a consistent blog writing and posting schedule, which is a challenge for many creatives. This week you’re going to get tips and suggestions on how to do this successfully.

Maintaining a Consistent Blog Writing and Posting Schedule

Blog Writing Schedule

Your blog writing schedule depends on three things: your mood, your daily routine and life.

Following are suggestions for making time to write your blog posts:

  • Once a week. The day(s) you write will be based on your blog posting schedule.
  • Blocks of time. Block off a few hours in one day or over a number of days just for writing.
  • When the mood hits. This is the most unpredictable schedule, but it’s real. When your writing muse flows, go with it, if possible.

This is why writers and bloggers are advised to be ready with pen, paper or mobile device because creativity strikes at the most unpredictable times.

Blog Posting Schedule

You first have to decide what your goals are, and then determine a blog posting schedule.

Some bloggers say you should post daily. Generally, these are bloggers whose blogs are their business.

For those of us whose blogs are not our primary source of income, I recommend posting at least once a week. Realistically, do what works for you.

Here are suggestions for publishing your blog posts:

  • Daily
  • Once a month
  • Every other week
  • Several days a week
  • Once a week
  • Specific dates

Whenever you decide to publish your posts, be sure it fits into your lifestyle comfortably. When life happens blogging is the first activity to go.

Now, which day(s) will you post?

Editorial Calendars

Editorial calendars will help you manage your posting schedule. There are several ways you can do this:

  • Editorial Calendar plugin for WordPress
  • Calendars that come with your email accounts
  • Mobile apps
  • Paper calendars and planners (Some of us still write stuff down. Don’t judge!)
