I’m back and ready to blog. As I told you before my break, although I wasn’t going to be blogging, I was still going to be busy. Following is a list of things that happened while I was on break. I’ll elaborate on a few of them in future posts.
Professional Accomplishments
- My Blogging Success for News Bloggers online course is finally finished and available for sale.
- I’m presenting Introduction to Blogging for Business for the City of Chicago 9:30 to 11 am on Friday, August 31st.
- I’m presenting Chicago Roller Skating History at Ela Area Public Library in Lake Zurich on Monday, October 1st.
- Beverly Mahone and I had a conversation about the Baby Boomer/Millennial Divide in the workplace. Watch it on YouTube.
- I had the pleasure of interviewing my buddy, Dequiana Jackson, for the Independent Bulletin community newspaper.
- I was featured as Someone You Should Know on Chicago Writers Association blog, thanks to Jennifer Brown Banks.
- My fellow scribe, Christopher Benitez, interviewed me for an expert blogger interview.
- I drafted my signature speech for future keynote presentations and got feedback from two amazingly creative writers.
- I’m researching and gathering information for an email writing course for companies.
- I earned my Advanced Leadership Bronze (ALB) designation in Toastmasters. I am six speeches and three leadership projects away from my Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) designation, the highest designation in the organization.
- I was introduced to Lumen5 video program by members of two Facebook groups I’m in. It pulls information from your blog post feeds to create social videos. Check out my first video: 10 Jobs of Bloggers.
- I started designing a roller skate t-shirt for my event in December, but will sell it before then. It’s really dope!
- I attended the Society for Human Resource Management conference and met people who have the authority to hire me to conduct writing and blogging workshops.
- I experienced two lessons in intellectual ownership. One day I’ll share why you should own your websites, blogs, email lists, audio, video, photos…everything.
Personal Stuff
- My little sister graduated from high school so we attended senior stuff.
- I celebrated my birthday…had a blast.
- I attended the unveiling of the Gwendolyn Brooks statue at Brooks park.
- I took an archery lesson. It was interesting. I would do it again.
