A Sea of Uncertainty

Posted on December 3, 2009August 23, 2012 by Ms. Marcie

I am sitting here wondering what is to come
I work hard, I study but nothing tangible has appeared.
My faith has me swimming in a sea of uncertainty.

I say swimming because of the everything involved;
Swimming is not for the lazy or faint of heart.
I have to courage to go to 8 feet of water
when I’m only 5 feet tall
knowing my feet will not touch the ground.
Because water is such a strong force
I have to be strong enough to move with it.

And my personal challenge right now –
trying to coordinate breathing with the strokes.
That takes skills and whole lot of self-motivation.
That’s probably not very hard; it’s definitely not the easiest activity.
And I have to want to do it.  No one can do it for me.
So, yes, my faith has me swimming in a sea of uncertainty.

Hebrew 11:1 (KJV) says “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen.”
Those words look good on paper, but the reality is
I have to work hard, pray, cry, work and pray some more and
believe that what I am working toward is really going to happen.
That’s hard when I don’t see tangible results.

But, God throws in life jackets and other lifelines
to help keep my faith afloat.
While I am working, praying, crying and believing,
I get signs to let me know I am moving in the right direction.
These victories also keep me focused and provide motivation
for me to keep moving.
Did I mention that drowning is NOT an option?
So, as you can see, my faith has me swimming in a sea of uncertainty.
