On Saturday, August 16, 2014, an audience of at least 40 writers, authors and aspiring authors attended the 3rd Annual Writers Block Party at the Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin, Illinois to learn how to promote themselves as writers and authors.
Moderated by Tori Collins, president of CWA, I, along with my fellow panelists, Dana Kaye, Libby Fischer Hellman, Mare Swallow and Dan Burns, shared our experiences as freelance writers, bloggers, authors, book marketers and all the other roles we take on. Usually, I would have more information here like last year, but I was on the panel and couldn’t take notes and pictures like I normally would.
We had at between 50 and 60 attendees, which was great. And they all had questions and interacted with the panelists. Some of the topics discussed include finding your target audience on social media; promotion dos and don’t’s; does blogging really help; the benefits of hiring a publicity expert to help market your book; and treat your book as a business.
Also, the 2014 Chicago Writers Conference will be held from October 24 – October 26. Order your tickets today!
If I find links to other articles about the event, I’d be sure to share. In the meantime, I’d like to give a big thank you to Chicago Writers Association an InPrint Professional Writers Group for sponsoring this event.
Did you make it to the Writers Block Party in Elgin on Saturday? What do you think?
