I was invited to a colleague’s grand restaurant opening on yesterday. I really didn’t want to go, but I it’s always a blessing to see someone’s dream come true.
Anyway, I started asking people if they roller skated. A few people said no, and one young lady chimed in and started telling me her skate memories (SWEET!). She then introduced me to her sister. Guess what? Her sister’s ex-husband’s family owned a roller rink! So, I’m sitting there with a big Kool Aid grin on my face. She then let me speak to “K”. He reached out to one rink owner that was not available and I had a chance to speak to another rink owner. Seriously????
Later in the day, “K” came to the restaurant with Marshall Thompson from the Chi-Lites. I asked Mr. Thompson if he used to roller skate? He was more interested in sharing his musical accolades, which I would greatly accept for another story on another day. But, I was in roller skating heaven. There was another gentleman with Mr. Thompson and “K” who was observing me speak with Mr. Thompson. I asked him if he used to roller skate, he said, “I used to own one.” WHAT???????? Four rink owners in one day!!! And I have interviewed one of the contacts already.
What’s the point of my story? Go places even if you don’t want to go. Do things you don’t want to do. Let your spirit be your guide. You just never know the good that will come from being obedient.
Have an excellent day!
