If you own and run a blog, there’s a good chance you use downloadables to entice your audience to sign up for your newsletter. Most websites have a mailing list these days, but getting visitors to join them can be quite hard. That’s why downloadables are important.
What is a downloadable? It’s a digital product that content marketers and bloggers use to encourage people to join their mailing lists. It can be in visual, print, video or audio formats.
While providing information is good; a nice design makes your product better. This is why it’s important to dress up your downloadables, and make them as eye catching as possible. The right design might even improve readability.
Here are a couple tips for dressing up your blog downloadables. Not only will they increase your download rates; they will increase the number of people on your mailing list.
Scrap the PDFs
How many PDFs have you downloaded and found the information useless? How many of them have you ever read? Well, make sure your blog readers don’t run into the same issue with the downloadables from your blog. They regret signing up to that mailing list you spent ages creating.
Instead of PDFs, consider creating workbooks, mini-courses, interview series or flipbooks. This can make your audience’s experience more interactive. If you’re considering flipbooks, look at an alternative to flipsnack.
Let Them Speak For Themselves
As mentioned above, getting users to sign up to your mailing list can be very challenging. Popups and other annoying distractions will turn your visitors off and send them away. That’s why you have to entice them with downloadables.
But your freebies have to speak for themselves. Make sure they have good titles, captivating headlines and enticing images. Most importantly, if you write a post with great information, they’re going to automatically want to know more about what you have to offer.
Make sure you advertise your downloadables; but never force a person into a popup or landing page in order to download them.
Above are two keys for dressing your blog’s downloadables. In addition to providing value, be creative on how you present them so they speak for themselves.
