Social media users are led to believe that a large number of followers equate to more influence. Not true. While the quantity of your friends, followers and connections look impressive at first glance; your level of engagement with these people is far more important.
The more you engage on social networks, the more followers you’ll gain. But you want to this growth to be natural and organic.
To ensure you maintain your credibility, following are four tricks I use to grow my social media following organically. All of these actions apply to all social networks. And generally speaking, it only takes one click to do them.
Grow Your Social Media Following Organically
Share
Sharing other people’s posts and updates is the simplest way to help people, even if you don’t know them. As you know, there are strength in numbers and your one share can multiply to thousands, depending on the number of engaged and active followers you have.
Promote
There are several ways you can promote others online. First, you can promote people that are doing good things. You can also help them promote products, services, missing people and causes. Third, share relevant information and inspirational quotes. For maximum impact, promote information with comments.
Respond
Responding to people lets them know that you’re paying attention to what they are saying. You can respond to questions they post or contribute to trending topics on social networks. Also, you can thank people for following you or sharing your posts and updates.
Reach Out
Here are two truths: 1) people like to be recognized for their expertise and accomplishments and 2) they like talking about themselves. Reaching out on social media is the perfect opportunity to ask people for information or for assistance.
Inquiring about information included on your followers’ profiles is another way to reach out. One of my Twitter followers races llamas for fun. If it were not for social media, I would not have known that this unique hobby exists.
And don’t forget to ask for help promoting your posts and updates. I’ve learned that many people are willing to help if you ask.
Those are four tricks I use to grow my social media followers organically. In addition to building relationships, they allow you to help others with their ventures, which could possibly earn you a reputation as a resource or connector. You could also gain new friends and supporters.
