In my last post, I wrote about the first five of 10 jobs of bloggers. This post lists the final five responsibilities of bloggers.
The 10 Jobs of Bloggers – Part 2
Videographer
Many people are praising the results of video, however, many people are avoiding it like the plague. Video is more engaging and people do tend to click to watch, however, it has to be relevant or entertaining. Live streaming is all the rage these days.
Salesperson
When people think of salespeople, they get images of the obnoxious, pushy car salesperson. In actuality, every time you post content that is read and promoted by others, you are selling. Every time you leave a comment on someone else’s site, you are selling. Essentially, you must sell yourself before other people will buy.
Editor
All bloggers are not good editors. If that’s you, hire someone to do it. Poor spelling and punctuation and other grammar errors makes for poor presentation and may run people away from your site.
Interviewer
Interviewing others is not always required but it is a cool addition to any site. It’s a win-win for you, your audience, and the interviewee.
You get a chance to diversify your content and enhance your presentation and speaking skills. Your interviewee has an opportunity to tell his or her story to a different audience. And your audience will expand its knowledge based on the information shared.
Professional Stalker
Depending on the type of site you have, you may be a professional stalker, whether you want to own that title or not. Professional stalkers are people who will do what they have to do – legally and safely – to get the information they want. Celebrity bloggers, investigative reporters and curious bloggers fall into this category.
Wrapping Up
Above are the last five of the 10 jobs of bloggers. The first five jobs were published last week; check them out when you get a chance.
As an aside, I created this post for another reason.
For anyone who thinks blogging is easy, this post was created to show otherwise.
For people who want to pay bloggers less than $100 to write, edit and publish a blog, please know that blogging requires a lot of work and detail, and good bloggers are worth the investment.
To my fellow bloggers: know that you are not “just a blogger”, you perform at least two of the duties mentioned above at any given time. Be sure to charge accordingly for your time, talents and experience.
What About You?
Which of these jobs do you perform? Did I miss anything?
