After a much needed brain break, I’m baaaaaaack! Here’s what I’ve been doing while I was away.
- My biggest accomplishment: jumping in 10 feet at the pool. I learned how to swim last year but would not hang out in the deep end to save my own life, literally and figuratively. I got tired of being afraid and took the plunge.
- Decluttering my office and workspace. I had a lot of article and blog drafts; stuff I’m going to do (and haven’t); and stuff to trash that had started piling up, impacting my psyche and productivity. I had to address this to become a happier Marcie.
- Seeking a contract or permanent learning & development or training specialist position. I had a couple phone screens and an interview. I’m expecting great news soon.
- Researching learning management system plugins and tools so I can offer online courses.
- Attending networking and family events.
- I recorded an appreciation video for Chicago Writers Association; published a screencast on 5 newly published books; and interviewed 1968 Olympian Leon Coleman which was published in the Independent Bulletin newspaper.
- Reading, researching, roller skating, taking pics and chillin’. Make sure you read or listen to Trust Me, I’m Lying: Confessions of a Media Manipulator by Ryan Holiday.
- Trying to decide on how to move forward on my site.
Changes on Marcie Writes
I enjoy sharing information on for you all but here are three changes to expect going forward:
- I’ll be posting a minimum of twice a month versus weekly because it’s challenging to create content consistently as a team of one. Tuesday will still be my posting day.
- I’m going to expand my blog topics beyond about writing, blogging content marketing and self-publishing. Every now and then a totally un-related topic will be published. I found a whole bunch of article drafts on various topics while cleaning.
- Content marketing experts says that blog posts exceeding 800 words are becoming the norm. Mine will continue to range between 250 and 500 words, with some posts having less than 250 words.
Now that I’m back I’m ready to serve. What topics would you like to see?
