I’ve been contacting brands to find out if they partner with bloggers but I didn’t have a blog media kit. Therefore, I was semi-prepared when two companies requested the following information:
- Who you are
- What your blog is about
- Who your audience is
- Demographics of your audience
- Your blog, social media and online reach
- How you can partner with them
Although I was able to provide this information, it is better presented in a blog media kit.
I’ll be honest. I was hesitant about contacting brands because I don’t have a large blog following. However, I had been reading blog posts that encouraged bloggers to reach out anyway; that’s what I’ve been doing.
Although my blog numbers aren’t really huge, my social media reach is impressive. And my in-person following is even better. Here’s where my influence matters.
- Board Member of Chicago Writers Association
- 10-year member of MJM Speakers’ Circle Toastmasters Club and have an article published in Toastmasters magazine
- Member of Windy City Bloggers Collective
- My Captivating Bio article in Forbes – people are still reading my article I wrote. In fact, my bio business has picked up because of it
- I’m active in my local community and contribute to the Independent Bulletin community newspaper
- I attend and present at national and local conferences
- I’m always popping up at Meetups on various topics
- I conduct blogging and social media trainings for entrepreneurial and business groups
- I’ve self-published seven books
- I’ve written articles on world renowned sites
So, I had to ditch the thought that my blog stats define my reach because it’s so much greater.
I want to thank Keshuna Franklin of OnDemand Designs for an amazing design. She was such a joy to work with and is highly recommended graphic design projects. We connected on LinkedIn years ago and met in person at the Photoshop class at Blue 1647. I’ll provide her contact information when she gives me her preferred method of contact.
