I am proud to share my accomplishment this week.
Freelance Writing
In addition to my article, “8 Places in Chicago to Celebrate Black History Year Round” being published in the Chicagoist, I had three more noteworthy accomplishments.
Before I go forward, can I just say that completing the article for the Chicagoist was a challenge? It was a blessing, but challenging. I submitted a draft last Friday, and Mae, the editor said, “ I’d like… deep internet research? So Google, Yelp, Tribune and Chicago Reader archives, etc.”
That was the easy part.
My challenge was pulling three to five facts out of tons of great information and transforming them into short, engaging sentences. On the flip side, Mae was very cool, which made my experience a lot easier.
Blogging Authority Highlights
On Tuesday, March 15th, I had an author interview with Dr. Anthony Gantt, founder of Unknown Greatness. We discussed what blogging is; why independent business owners and authors should blog; and how my book, 62 Blog Posts to Overcome Blogger’s Block, can help them create content that will keep audiences returning.
Also, Dequiana Jackson, CEO of Inspired Marketing, Inc, and I enlightened several women about Blogging for Business 101 for her Ask the Expert session on Thursday, March 17th. This was a last minute request I gladly accepted.
Overcoming Blogger’s Block Books
Sending my 62 Blog Posts Teacher Manual to a teacher for feedback and guidance was my third accomplishment. After looking at the draft for about 20 minutes, trying to decide what to do, the Spirit told me to contact Pat, a teacher who is waaaaay more qualified than me. She said yes.

I want to thank Mae, Dr. Gantt and Dequiana for helping me move toward my goals.
