Just wanted to do a quick recap and share photos from my Meet the Author event at Whitney Young Library on Thursday. I had 10 engaged attendees and sold several books and workbooks. Woo hoo!
Topics of discussion included:
- The difference between a blog and website
- The difference between the social networking sites
- The difference between a blog and a post
- Is Facebook a blog?
- How did you get started writing your book?
- What is CreateSpace?
- What is Pinterest?
- How to do you make money blogging?
- How long did it take you to write your book?
Also, here are a few pics from the event. Hope to see you at the next one.
So what did YOU learn from all this? 🙂
Good question, Diana. Here are my biggest lessons:
1. Even though social media is all around us, there are still a lot of people of all ages that do not know what it is. Therefore, I need to be ready to explain the difference between blogging and the various social media sites.
2. You don’t need a big audience to be successful. You need the people who need and want what you’re offering. This applies to everything you do.
3. Be your best self; you don’t know who’s in the room.
4. Always have books with you and refer to your works in your presentation. And always promote your site and other ventures.
5. Give the floor to your audience; everyone has something to contribute.
6. If there’s something you don’t know, say so.
7. You want evangelists online and offline.
8. I am one of the few bloggers that most people know, if any. Be ready to explain what a blogger is and what a blog is.
9. Encourage people to write their stories.
10. Give people resources to get started.
Marcie, congratulations on all you’ve accomplished this year! Your journey to purpose is present in the details as you are living your truths. Did I mention that I Love your new home?!
Blessings and Abundance in all that you do and become.
