20 Challenges and Considerations When Training

Posted on July 7, 2015April 25, 2019 by Ms. Marcie

Training

My training team completed our first round of trainings. Woo hoo! During that time, I’ve noticed some challenges and considerations when training. I’m sharing these with you just in case you need this information.

Trainers

  1. Pacing. If trainers go too fast, they lose slow learners. If they go too slow, they lose advanced learners. Thus, you have to figure out that ideal balance.
  2. Teaching  or presentation style
  3. Patience. You have to learn how to work with all personalities, ages and learning levels.
  4. Knowledge of materials
  5. Learn to read your audience. This will help you see when people get lost or confused.
  6. Personality
  7. Interpersonal skills

Learners

  1. Learning levels. Some people learn faster than others.
  2. Language barriers
  3. Computer skill level. This can range from no skills to highly skilled.
  4. Learning styles. Some people learn from reading, listening or doing.
  5. Interest of learners. You have those who want to be there and those who have to be.
  6. Disabilities. This could be visual, hearing or physical.
  7. Age
  8. Personalities
  9. Tech savvy
  10. Adjustment to change

General

  1. Distractions. These range from individuals to training room to outdoor noise.
  2. Learning environment. This include room set up, size of room, comfort of chairs, and even temperature in the room.
  3. Timing of training. Our learners are getting in three days what took us six weeks to learn.
