There are many benefits to listening to music. In addition to serving as a healing mechanism, it is therapeutic; it energizes you; and helps you get into your “zone.” Did you know that music can also help you overcome blogger’s block? Check out the folling7 ways you can use music to overcome blogger’s block.
Dance
Turn on some music – fast or slow – and dance your blogger’s block away. There’s a quote that says, “Dance like no one’s watching.” Hit that switch and let yourself go.
Post YouTube Videos
Jot a note to your readers that you are at a loss for words, and the videos are a substitute. Pick your favorite artist or your favorite song, and let your readers know why you picked it. All you need is a couple sentences.
Write a Song
Okay, this may be a stretch. But if you are stuck in a blogging rut, you may consider penning a song, which could possibly help jump-start your creative flow. If the thought of writing a song is taxing, consider a short, goofy jingle.
Parody
Weird Al Yankovic was notorious for mocking songs, especially Michael Jackson’s. Try your hand at making a silly version of one of your favorite tunes. The silliness may flow into your writing and add a funny dimension to your blog post.
Play an Instrument
If you were blessed with the gift of playing an instrument, drop your pen and get to playing. This will definitely take you into another zone and help overcome blogger’s block. If you cannot play an instrument, it’s okay to pretend like you are.
Sing a Song
Everyone is not blessed with the gift of song, but we all have vocal cords which should be used to sing tunes that make us feel good. Click on that YouTube video, press the play button on that mp3 player, or insert a music CD and sing your heart out. Sing loud and substitute words you don’t understand in the song. Have fun with it.
Honor Others
Dedicating a song to your readers is one of the easiest ways to bless others. Upload the audio recording or video of a positive and uplifting song in honor of those who support you, and share the meaning behind your actions.
Above are just 7 ways you can use music to overcome blogger’s block. What are some ways you use music to keep your blogging flow going?

Interesting stuff. I often forget to turn my music on during the workday and yet I know how good it makes me feel when I do have it on. As for playing an instrument, I’m thinking there’s a majority of people that one won’t fit, and I stopped playing in ’99 so I won’t be doing it any time soon either.
But music is very important as a stimulus or even just to calm you down and help focus, and it’s been proven to work.
Mitch, I use music when I’m working on tedious writing and blogging projects that do not require a lot of concentration. It’s actually foreplay to kickstart my writing and blogging mojo.
