Re-tweeting articles I read is the main way I grow my following. I research a lot and will gladly share information that I think other people will find valuable.
Reach Out
Social media makes it so easy to reach out to people who may be able to help you in some capacity. Instead of asking for anything, I usually ask people about themselves or offer to help them in their endeavors, especially when their profiles shout loudly to me.

Respond
Respond to people people who ask you questions about who are and what you do. Also, thank people for following you or sharing your tweets.

The first tweet is announcing an article from my community site, Shorty: Your Chicago South Side Resource. The second tweet is a pitch to sell my new eBooklet, How to a Write POWERFUL Professional Bio.
Why tweet your info? Because it increases your online visibility and lets people know who you are and what you do. This ultimately boosts your brand and your bottom line.
